Description


The welder performs duties in the steel fabrication shop related to all elements of steel fabrication, welding, and repair. Duties primarily involve welding processes but also include operating basic hand tools, component assembly, operating metal fabrication equipment, repair work, and painting.


Essential Responsibilities
  1. Perform welding operations using several welding processes including: GMAW.
  2. Operate basic hand tools and powered hand tools, i.e. drills, disc grinders, etc.
  3. Operate equipment as described in company procedures: metal cutting saws, cutting torches, drills, material handling equipment, and grinders.
  4. Perform repair work involving welding and assembly.
  5. Operate basic paint equipment.
  6. Perform work safely and comply with all applicable safety regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
  7. Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe and organized work space.
  8. Maintain collaborative working relationship with coworkers.
  9. Perform general tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
  10. Accurately complete assembly sheets.
  11. Supports the Quality and Safety programs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:
  • Welding and fabrication principles and practices.
  • Tools, equipment and systems used in the practice of welding and fabrication.
  • Federal, state and local job site health and safety rules, regulations and best practices.

Ability to:

  • Interpret shop drawings.
  • Think independently and creatively to problem solve.
  • Take initiative, self-manage time and production through multi-tasking.
  • Effectively and concisely communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Contribute to a team dynamic by promoting inclusion, support and collaboration amongst coworkers.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with coworkers.
  • Proactively establish trust and credibility with coworkers by maintaining accountability.

Education, Training & Experience

  1. Two years related welding and fabricating experience.
  2. Experiences in the resource recovery industry a plus.
  3. Certifications in welding processes a plus.
