JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing weld engineering technical expertise, guidance, and oversight for manufacturing and engineering projects in a precision manufacturing environment; reviewing and improving upon existing procedures/methods to enhance function and profitability; development and integration of new technologies and techniques; development and maintaining welder/welding qualifications and welding fixtures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide welding engineering technical support to Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to meet or exceed all applicable industry standards, codes, specifications and customer requirements i.e. ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, AWS, API, CSA, ISO and NACE. * Manage and oversee welder and welding procedure qualifications and generate welding procedures to assist manufacturing and welding personnel; coordinate testing of weld samples at outside laboratories; maintain welder and weld certification database. * Review vendor (sub-tier) welding procedures, processes and documentation in order to determine applicable welding code, design, practices and quality requirements are met. * Confer with manufacturing engineering, quality and operations teams to determine concept/design weld requirements and feasibility/profitability for existing and potential new business; support manufacturing operations team i.e. providing input for methods, routers, process flow, equipment, fixtures, tooling, etc. * Research and investigate new developments in the field of welding for application to remedy or improve existing welding procedures and processes. * Lead integration, implementation, installation and qualification/certification of new equipment/methods * Plan, conduct, track and report welding engineering investigations; coordinate failure (FMEA) and root cause analysis on welding related issues. * Proficiency and practical knowledge/experience in welding processes with automated, semi-automated and manual welding: i.e. Electron Beam, Laser, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, ERW, and SAW of carbon, stainless steel and nickel-based alloys as well as the joining of dissimilar metals through these processes SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILIITES: * Not applicable Requirements: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * REQUIRED: Minimum verifiable (4) year degree in Weld Engineering, Welding Technology or other applicable discipline * 3-5 years of applicable welding engineering and project management experience in a manufacturing environment * Fundamental knowledge of NDE including the ability to detect, categorize, quantify, and prevent/resolve welding defects * Experience with SolidWorks a plus CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Preferred AWS Certified Welding Engineer, CWI Certification, or requisite experience to obtain and CWI required
